Are you worried that your three-year-old is too active? Little Tikes has the solution for you. For only $2,599 – that’s right, $2,599 – you can unleash your child’s inner Dilbert with the Little Tikes Young Explorer workstation, complete with an IBM computer. The Young Explorer’s cubicle design keeps tots’ eyes glued firmly on the 19-inch flat screen monitor by eliminating pesky distractions, like the outside world. Little Tikes markets its cubicle to daycare centers as “a hallmark way to set you apart from other childcare facilities.” You know – those passé facilities where kids are running around and having fun! Tim Wise on White Privilege | Media Education Foundation
hmm, im not sure how i feel about his argument. its valid on the surface but its pretty extremeist. maybe i feel weird about it because he is all about investigation of whiteness which is something that makes white people squeamish. he does equate being white and poor with being a minority which is something i completely agree with. “who do you have more in common with if you are white and poor, the black and poor or the white and rich?” it is a very working class organizing point of view. how much of his argument is truth and how much is white guilt?
